EEND 713 Ed Tech Blog Artifact #2

Artifact: Google Doc Assessment CLICK HERE Artifact Description: During a quickfire challenge, I created a Pre/Post test that I actually used over the summer with my students attending Extened School Year (ESY). A quickfire challenege is a way to get educators and students a chance to design something in a short period of time. For this quickfire challenege we had to step out of our comfort zone and use a technology tool we typically do not use for assessment purposes. Artifact Reflection: During the quickfire, I was a little nervous stepping out of my comfort zone. I typically use google forms and am comfrotable using google forms....they are quick, simple, and I am able to differentatie easy. I started thinking about what I need to assess my students on. Being the lead SPED teacher within my self-contained life skills program, I decided to focus on functional math skills. For the assessment I used google docs because I would be able to link the assesssment onto google classro...

EEND 713 Ed Tech Blog Artifact #1

Artifact: iMovie Trailer CLICK HERE Description of Artifact: This artifact was designed to be an elevator pitch to show where I was at during my Genius Hour project. It is meant to give the viewer a quick understanding on how things are going and at what stage I was currently at. Artifact Reflection: Prior to starting this Elevator Pitch assignment, I had to think of what tools I have learned about throughout my duration of the class. After thinking about it, I knew I wanted to use iMovie, because when we discussed it in class my mind start thinking about how I could use this technology tool within my daily teaching. I haven't used iMovie trailers much and I wanted to get more practice, so this was the perfect opportunity to get that addtiional practice. Throughout creating this assignment, I learned that iMovie Trailers is very simple and user friendly. In addition, it is actually pretty quick. I am SPED teacher so the use of visuals with in my classroom is a must. What be...

EEND 713 Genius Hour

Image
Week 1: -Discovery & Education: In order to decide what I was going to do for my Genius hour, I first asked myself the following 4 questions... 1)   What do I want to do on weekend mornings? 2) Identify the activities that you truly enjoy. 3) What types of things energize you? 4) What do I do when I have off of work/school After reflecting on these questions and really thinking about what motivates me, keeps me happy, and is something I actually want to do I was able to pinpoint my Genius Hour. The biggest things that keeps me happy are my fiance and working out. Working out is something we both enjoy doing, but do not always make the time for. We are both school teachers and now that summer is coming up, we will, well hopefully, we will have more time to workout. My Genius Hour will be...  Losing 10lbs & to get in better shape with my Fiance.   Week 2: -Routines What can you do now that couldn't do last week? Or What do you know that you didn...

678 Course Refleciton

This was a FANTASTIC course. Not only did I further my education by gathering knowledge from other professionals within the educational field, but I also grew as an individual in my own teachings. Again, I can't stress enough how important collaboration is within the educational system. From classroom discussion's I learned so much from my fellow educators. I consider myself to have a good grasp on my field of education, but when I start hearing of the resources that other teachers are using and how they're using them in the classroom my mind starts thinking about how I will incorporate that into my class and I wonder if I can use that same resource to help my students improve their learning within my class. This type of opportunity doesn't come often within the educational system, because most of us have NO time to just sit and dicuss what we are doing within our classroom. Additionally, this experience humbles my. As an educator I always want to continue to grow my ...

678 Technology Blog/Online Learning Post

This post is to relfect the artifacts that I have created throughout 678 and what knowledge I have gained from completing these assignments. These artifacts represent only a small portion of the different technologic platforms that I have came to learn while taking part in 678. Artifact #1 Below you will find my first artifact, a professional learning presentation on PBL. For this assignment I needed to create a Professional Learning experience to not only educate my collegues on the topic of PBL, but also make this learning experience engaging to keep the attention of my peers.  PBL Professional Learning Reflection This assignment expanded my thinking besides teaching the information. It made me think of different ways to keep peers engaged. Additionally, it made me realize that there are a lot of times where teachers zone out during lectures or professional meetings, simply becasue the way the material is being presented after a long day of work, can't keep the attention...

677 Course reflection Post

Prior to this course I really did not even think about incorporating auido or video within my classroom. However, with the incoporation of technology into the school system, this will be a GAME CHANGER for sure in the SPED world. Now students will have the opportunities to view videos that relate to daily activites that they will complete whether it is at school or at home. In addition, students will be able to re-listen to stories or even directions over and over, which will improve their vocabulary, fluency, and their comprehension.  Another way in which I have grown from this course is by discovering new platforms (mostly screencast and podcasts) to try within my classroom. Especially from scrolling through class discussions, I have been able to also see how educators are using these different platforms within their classroom. Lastly, t his course has really made an impact on me and my proffessional development. Now I am always thinknig about how I can incorporate technology wit...
